Dr. Ann Collins was born and raised in the Nashville area. She is a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College and Vanderbilt University Medical School. She completed Pediatric residency at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and is an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Collins is married and has one child.

Chris is from Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. After she received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Psychology from the University of Slippery Rock in 1991, she worked at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida as a Child Life Specialist. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt in 1995. She is certified as a family nurse practitioner as well as a pediatric nurse practitioner. She is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. Chris is married and has many critters.

Anne was born and raised in Lebanon, Tennessee. She graduated from Belmont University with her MSN/FNP in 1997. She has been in the nursing profession since 1979. Anne ran a family practice from 2002 until it’s closing in 2014 and then transitioned into working in the Emergency Department. She is a member of the American Nurses Association and is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She is married with two grown children and four grandchildren.

Jasmine is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She attended Vanderbilt University where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology in 2003 and her Masters of Nursing Degree in 2007. She is certified as a pediatric nurse practitioner. She is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau, the International Nursing Honor Society. Jasmine is married with two sons.

Scott Huitink MD

Scott Huitink M.D.

Dr. Scott Huitink earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas College of Medical Sciences (UAMS) and completed his pediatric residency training with the San Antonio Military Medical Center affiliated hospitals. During his time of military service as an Army physician, Dr. Huitink practiced general pediatrics and adolescent medicine in Heidelberg, Germany, served as a Battalion Surgeon with our troops during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and was awarded the Army’s Bronze Star Medal for his service and leadership while deployed. Dr. Huitink has a wide array of experience in the care of children from newborns to adolescents and has been instrumental in the education and implementation of clinical standards. He is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Scott, and his wife Rachelle, have been a part of Sumner County since 2013 and are actively involved in the community through their church and non-profit organizations they serve with. They have 3 children. Dr. Huitink enjoys the outdoors, reading, and watching college football.

Dr. Jason Kastner was raised in Manhattan, Kansas. He attended college at Kansas State University and medical school at the University of Kansas, graduating in 1998. He completed his residency in Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Children’s Hospital and served as Chief Resident in Pediatrics from 2001 – 2002. He served as clinical faculty at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is married with two daughters.

Brenden Kootsey MD

Dr. Brenden Kootsey grew up in Durham, North Carolina, and graduated from Duke University with a degree in Zoology in 1990. He worked in public broadcasting in Boston, MA, for the PBS science series “NOVA,” until he returned to school in 2008. Prior to returning to school he additionally worked with adolescents in an acute residential psychiatric treatment program at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA. He received his MD degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia in 2012 and completed his pediatric residency at The Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, also in Norfolk, in 2015. Dr. Kootsey is married with one son.

Tiffany is a native of Macon County. She attended Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1998. She received her Masters of Nursing Degree from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky in 2002. She is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, a member of the American Nurses Association, and a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.

Dr. Jessica Miller is a native of Marietta, Georgia. She completed her Master of Public Health at the University of Georgia prior to earning her medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Dr. Miller completed her residency at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in 2015. For the past 2 years, she has been working for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta as an urgent care physician. She is happy to be returning to the middle Tennessee area and will see patients at our Gallatin and Lafayette locations. Her practice interests include allergy and asthma care as well as breastfeeding and newborn care. Dr. Miller is married with one 2-year-old son and one 4-year-old Welsh Corgi. She enjoys following her Georgia Bulldogs, knitting, and volunteering with her college sorority.

Dr. Ronald Miller is from the Memphis area. He is a graduate of Ole Miss, and its medical school where he received his MD degree in 1976. He completed his residency in Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Children’s Hospital. After a few years in the U.S. Navy he and his family returned to middle Tennessee and joined Dr. Spencer in 1983. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, a fellow of the American College of Pediatrics, a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. He has been married 40 years to a very understanding, loving wife. They have 3 wonderful children and 8 exceptional grandchildren.

Sam Murray MD

Dr. Sam Murray is a native of Hagerstown, Maryland. He received an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech and then graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 1996. From there he went on to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital where he completed a 3-year pediatric residency. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is also a Clinical Faculty at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. He came to us from Roanoke, Virginia where he served as Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Virginia School of Medicine where he was heavily involved in medical student instruction. He is married with two children.

Diana is from the Philippines and lived in Spain for a couple of years before moving to the United States to pursue college. She received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in 2008 and worked as a pediatric critical care nurse. She attended the University of South Florida where she received her Master of Nursing Degree in 2015. Diana is certified as a family nurse practitioner. She is a member of American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing. Diana is married with one daughter.

Rebecca is originally from central Mississippi. She attended Mississippi College in Clinton, MS where she received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1999. She worked at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee before moving to Nashville in 2001. Since then, she has worked at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital as a critical care nurse. She has also worked as an adjunct instructor for Belmont University and Lipscomb University. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Middle Tennessee State University in 2013. She is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau International, and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. Rebecca is married and has twin girls.

Dr. Rundus was born in Lincoln, Nebraska and raised in Lumberton, North Carolina. She is a graduate of the University of Houston and the University of Texas Health Sciences Center – San Antonio Medical School. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Vanderbilt University and served as Chief Resident in Pediatrics from 2002 – 2003. She is an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Rundus is married, has one daughter and is a proud soccer mom. She started with the clinic in 2003 and has greatly enjoyed her job providing care for children for the last 15 years.

Dr. Norman Spencer was born and reared in East Tennessee. He attended Vanderbilt University and received his MD degree from Vanderbilt University Medical School in 1976. He served his residency in Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University Children’s Hospital and from 1979 – 1980 was Chief Resident in Pediatrics. He is a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Vanderbilt Children’s. Dr. Spencer is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Alyson Wills MD

Dr. Alyson Wills was born in Wichita Falls, Texas and grew up in the United States where she lived in more than ten states. She graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. In 2005 she graduated from Wright State School of Medicine located in Dayton, Ohio. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania in 2008. She practiced in a small town in Ohio before she moved to Tennessee in 2012. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a member of the faculty of Monroe Carell, Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Dr. Wills is married and has two children, one of which has significant special needs.

Megan Tackett MD

From Knoxville, Dr. Megan Tackett has always had a love for Tennessee. She went to the University of Tennessee for both college and medical school. Providing care to children and their families was always her priority so she continued her pediatric training at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. After residency, she worked at a small private practice in Atlanta, but always knew she wanted to come back to her home state. She is thrilled to have joined the VIP family in April 2014.

Emily Hawkinson M.D.

Dr. Emily Hawkinson was born and raised in Corinth, a small town in Northeastern Mississippi, just outside of the Tennessee border.  She is a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a degree in biological sciences.  Emily continued her studies at the University of Mississippi Medical Center with a master’s degree in biomedical sciences and also earned her medical degree there in 2015. She completed her Pediatric residency in Jackson, MS at Batson Children’s Hospital.  Dr. Hawkinson is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is married to Kevin Hawkinson, and they have two sons, Ryan and Alex.  Her hobbies include beach vacations, skiing, and spending time with her family.

Jennifer Wagner M.D.

Jennifer was born and raised in Rochester, New York. She moved south to attend college at Harding University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. She attended medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Jennifer completed her pediatrics residency training at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in June 2018. She loves living in middle Tennessee and enjoys hiking, biking, and refinishing furniture.

Saagar Karlekar MD

Saagar Karlekar M.D.

Dr. Saagar Karlekar completed his pediatric residency in 2000 at NY Medical College/Westchester Medical Center after completing medical school at St. Georges University School of Medicine in 1997. Prior to coming to Hendersonville, TN in 2007, Dr. Karlekar remained in New York City working at Beth Israel’s Institute for Neurology and Neurosurgery as a pediatric hospitalist. After gaining valuable experience there, he joined a pediatric practice in the Bronx, NY where he developed an interest in managing asthma/allergies, along with developmental issues such as ADD/ADHD, autism, down’s syndrome as well as other conditions in children and adolescents. Dr. Karlekar is a board certified pediatrician as well as a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Before beginning his medical career, Dr. Karlekar had always been involved with children in varying capacities. This included running programs for disabled children while earning his BS at the Rochester Institute of Technology, as well as volunteering as a teacher in the Peace Corps after graduating from college. Dr. Karlekar lives in the Nashville area with his wife, also a physician, and his twin boys.

Laura is a recent graduate from the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. Prior to graduate school, Laura attended Vanderbilt University and earned bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and Medicine, Health, and Society. Laura has done volunteer work at a children’s clinic in Guatemala and is excited to work with the Spanish-speaking (and English-speaking) families of Hendersonville and Portland. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society. Laura is board certified through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.

Heather Lehmann MD

Heather Lehmann M.D.

Dr. Heather Lehmann began her medical training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following this, she completed a year of clinical research at Duke University. Dr. Lehmann went on to receive her medical degree and residency training from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, in affiliation with University health Systems of Eastern North Carolina. She received her Board Certification in 2008. Dr. Lehman’s training is unique in that she has had experiences in rural and international medicine, particularly with Hispanic families. She is excited to care for all families in the Hendersonville community, where she resides. Dr. Lehmann has an interest in adolescent medicine and is glad to offer comprehensive health care services. Dr. Lehmann is married to Brian Lehmann, a research scientist with the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center.

Sarah Mian MD

Dr. Sarah Mian is a Michigan native that transplanted to North Carolina, where she completed most of her education. She received a bachelors degree in Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her passion for rural medicine and primary care led her to East Carolina University, where she earned her medical degree. With an interest in population-based health, she returned back to UNC Chapel Hill to earn her Masters in Public Health with a focus on prevention and community health programming. She recently completed her pediatric residency at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. She has loved her experience in Tennessee and is excited to be staying in the community. Throughout her career she has been involved in numerous meaningful experiences working with the Hispanic population both in her community and abroad. She is a Spanish-speaking provider with an interest in health education, quality improvement, and immigrant health.

Marlon Shell MD

Marlon Shell M.D.

Dr. Marlon Shell is originally from the state of Michigan, otherwise known as a Michigander. He attended the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor for his undergraduate degree and medical school. He interestingly holds a BA in Economics. He completed his pediatric residency training at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit. While he had interests in the care of newborns and premature babies as well as caring for the heart of children; unable to decide, he spent a year in private practice while in Michigan. His heart fell in love with caring for children of all ages and a variety of conditions, watching them grow, watching their families grow, and hopefully forming lifelong relationships with them and their parents.

 

Dr. Shell moved to Tennessee after that year and has been practicing with the VIP Midsouth family since 2010 and presently has his base office in Hendersonville, where he resides with his wife and two daughters. He is dedicated to promoting a warm, judgment free, and fun experience with his patients and their families while being informative and compassionate while partnering with parents in caring for their children.

 

If you see him around town, he may be running in the local parks or running after his two busy daughters. He enjoys exercising, reading, learning new things, watching movies, listening to a variety of music, and simply having a good laugh. He really enjoys seeing the kids grow and mature and he is also dedicated to continuing to grow and improve his craft such that he can provide them with the best care.

Tena received her masters degree in nursing from Vanderbilt University in 1995, specializing as a family nurse practitioner. Prior to graduate school, Tena studied biology at Middle Tennessee State University. During her undergraduate and graduate education, Tena was the recipient of many awards and honors, including membership in the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing, and in the Tri Beta Biological Honor Society. Tena Simmons joined Dr. Wyatt’s practice in January, 1996 as a registered nurse who is also a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP). She is a member of the American Nurses Association, The Tennessee Nurses Association and the Middle Tennessee Advanced Practice Nurses Association. A native of Tennessee, Tena has lived in Hendersonville since birth. She is the mother of one son, Jon Luke.

Dr. Denise Stuart received her medical degree from Saint Louis University in 2001, and completed her Pediatric residency at the University of Florida in Jacksonville, Florida in 2004. She received board certification in 2004 from the American Board of Pediatrics. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Stuart was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. Following residency, she joined a private practice in North Carolina. In September of 2006 she moved back to Tennessee to join Dr. Wyatt’s practice. Dr. Stuart lives in Hendersonville with her husband Brian, who is a family practitioner. They have three children.

Dr. Catherine Wiggleton graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where she also completed her Pediatrics residency. She came to Hendersonville Children’s Clinic after practicing for two years as a Pediatric Hospitalist at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Before completing her degree in medicine, she received a Masters degree from the Harvard School of Public Health and a Bachelors degree from Stanford University in Psychology. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Wiggleton is married and they have one daughter. Dr. Wiggleton is excited to care for the families of Hendersonville, where she resides.

Kenneth Wyatt MD, FACP

Dr. Kenneth Wyatt received his medical degree from Michigan State University in 1979, and completed his pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital in Detroit, Michigan in 1982. Before attending medical school, he served as a licensed social worker and Juvenile Court Probation Officer in Oakland County, Michigan, and as a Peace Corp volunteer teaching in Sarawak, Malaysia. Dr. Wyatt is a Board Certified Pediatrician who established his practice in Hendersonville in July of 1984. He is a member of the American College of Pediatricians, the Tennessee Medial Association, the Summer County Medical Association, the Christian medical Dental Association and the Tennessee Pediatric Society. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Wyatt possesses much practical experience in child rearing since he is the active father of four sons and one daughter.

Jennifer Ashworth MD

Dr. Jennifer Ashworth was born in Springfield at Jesse Holman Jones Hospital though she grew up in Alabama and Mississippi. She graduated from Vanderbilt University and later the University of Alabama Medical School. Dr. Ashworth completed her residency at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and joined The Springfield Children’s Clinic in 2001. Dr. Ashworth is married and has one daughter. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Hunter Butler MD

Dr. Hunter Butler was born and raised in “L.A.”, otherwise known as Lower Alabama (Foley, AL). He attended Mississippi State University where he earned a degree in Biomedical Engineering and became an avid Bulldog fan. Upon completion of college, he moved to Atlanta where he attended Emory University School of Medicine. From there he moved to Nashville where he completed his pediatric residency at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital and met his wife Dr. Miranda Raines Butler, who now has also joined our practice. Dr. Butler moved to Springfield and joined our practice in 2011. His hobbies include playing and coaching soccer, hunting, and all things related to Mississippi State football.

Dr. Miranda Butler grew up in East Tennessee and obtained her bachelor’s degree at Lee University in Cleveland, TN. Following college, she moved to Nashville where she graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and completed her residency at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. During medical school, she met her husband, Dr. Hunter Butler, who also works at Springfield Children’s Clinic. She enjoys spending time with her family, running with her dog, reading, traveling, cooking, and going to Mississippi State football games with her husband. They have 2 daughters.

Erika Crawford MD

Dr. Erika Crawford was born and raised in San Diego, California. Following high school, she moved to Virginia to attend Hampton University, where she received a degree in biology. Dr. Crawford obtained her medical degree from Meharry Medical College and she attended the University of Virginia for her pediatrics residency training. Upon completion of her residency program, Dr. Crawford joined the Springfield practice in the summer of 2007. Dr. Crawford is married and has a son and a daughter. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Lorissa has been living in the Clarksville, Tennessee region for over 10 years. She attended Austin Peay State University for her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing Degree in 2010 and her Masters of Nursing Degree in 2016. She has worked at NorthCrest Medical Center as a Registered Nurse and also worked for VIP Midsouth as a Registered Nurse. She has also worked as an adjunct instructor for Austin Peay State University in the nursing department for four years. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Lorissa is married with one child.

Annie Glover MD

Dr. Annie Glover is a graduate of Springfield High School and is excited to be living in Springfield again. Dr. Glover became interested in pursuing pediatrics while she attended Rhodes College in Memphis. She would go on to complete medical school and her pediatrics residency in Memphis at the University of Tennessee and Lebonheur Children’s Medical Center. She was drawn to pediatrics because children are resilient and have a good team of family support. Since graduation, Dr. Glover has worked at other pediatric practices around the state. Being back in a small town and close to her family were big draws for Dr. Glover joining VIP MidSouth. In her free time, Dr. Glover loves to be outside with her chocolate lab, Lucy. She also enjoys horseback riding, traveling, and spending time with her family who reside in Springfield. Annie is married with one child.

Anjeli Wilson MD

Dr. Anjeli Wilson grew up in Southern Illinois and graduated from University of Illinois with a degree in Cell biology. She attended Southern Illinois University for Medical School and completed her Pediatric Residency at Children’s Hospital of Illinois. She practiced general pediatrics in Dearborn, Michigan for 10 years before relocating to join Springfield Children’s Clinic. She is fluent in Spanish and enjoys reading and spending time with her husband and four children.

Mollie is originally from Lexington, Kentucky and came to the Middle Tennessee area 15 years ago to pursue studies at Vanderbilt University. She completed her undergraduate studies and graduate studies at Vanderbilt University and graduated with a Master’s of Science in Nursing in 2005. Mollie is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. She is also a fellow of NAPNAP, the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. Mollie lives in Nashville with her husband and daughter.
